Qualified midwives Donna Grant and Liz Yates opened the clinic after both working in hospitals and community areas for many years. Both Donna and Liz found that the restraints of the NHS restricted them in offering the type of care they believe fulfills the childbirth experience. It is their intention to use their vast amount of experience along with their caring friendly approach to build a trusting relationship with you and your family and offer each client the package of care that will meet your individual needs. We are offering antenatal and postnatal appointments to suit each client. The service provided will enhance a women’s midwifery care and can work alongside the local hospital, GP and Community midwives service. Routine antenatal and postnatal appointments within the NHS system will still be available to you. Midwifery is one of the most regulated professions in the UK, and this is the same whether we practice independently or within the NHS. All midwives, independent or NHS based, are registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, which is our governing body and are bound by The Midwives Rules and Standards, and The Code of Professional Conduct which ensures that we practice in a safe and professional manner. We will remain updated with current research based practice. We are insured with the Royal College of Nursing for our antenatal and postnatal services. The clinics are held in a town centre location in a comfortable setting. We offer refreshments and it is our intention to portray a homely atmosphere during your appointments. We are supported with the scanning service by Dr Anthony Whelan (face2facebabyscans) who we share the premises with and thank him for his support, and Lucy Dolly (babydolly) supports us with her parentcraft courses. Our philosophy is based on a commitment to pregnancy and birth as a normal life event; we are absolutely committed to recognising and respecting the rights and wishes of the individual woman and her family. Continuity of care and a woman's right of choice is at the very heart of our professional ethos.
We would just like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Paul Marsden for drawing the picture of Zayleigh Stevenson for our logo and Paul Thomas (Clifford Press LTD) for all his support designing our brochures. x |
